Hunting Deer: Youth Mentored Deer Hunt in Bozeman

Youth Deer Hunt Weekend – Bozeman, Montana

There’s nothing quite like a cold Montana morning — frost on the grass, the soft glow of sunrise over the Bridger Range, and the quiet excitement of hunters settling into their blinds. Over a two - week stretch, our youth hunters spent back-to-back weekends taking part in the Youth Deer Hunt just outside Bozeman, Montana, experiencing the thrill and tradition of pursuing whitetail deer for the first time.

Hosted on the scenic Marx Family Farm, the hunt offered the perfect mix of learning and adventure. With guidance from experienced mentors and the steady support of dedicated volunteers, participants learned to read deer sign, stay alert and patient in their blinds, and make thoughtful, ethical decisions in the field. Each sunrise brought a new sense of anticipation — every rustle of leaves or flicker of movement in the distance sending hearts racing with excitement.

By the end of the second weekend, several young hunters celebrated their first successful harvests, unforgettable moments that mark the beginning of a lifelong connection to the outdoors. The pride and joy on their faces told the story — not just of success, but of respect for the animal, the land, and the effort it took to get there.

A heartfelt thank - you to the Marx family for once again opening their land, and to all the volunteers and mentors who gave their time, guidance, and passion. Your dedication ensures that Montana’s outdoor traditions continue to inspire the next generation of hunters.

Happy Hunting Season Friends!
