Gallatin Sporting Clays
Clay Shooting: Gallatin Sporting Clays Range day
As the fall air starts to cool and the leaves begin to change, excitement is building for the approaching hunting season. With just two weeks until the opener for pheasants and waterfowl, our students took the opportunity to get out on the range and sharpen their shooting skills at the Gallatin Sporting Clays course near Three Forks, Montana.
We started the morning early, greeted by the beautiful views of Montana’s open country. The setting couldn’t have been better — clear skies, fresh air, and the sound of clays flying through the sky. With safety gear on and shotguns in hand, our group was ready to break a few clays and prepare for the real thing coming soon.
Throughout the morning and until noon, students rotated through different stations, getting a feel for various shot angles and target presentations. Some clays flew straight out, mimicking flushing birds, while others came in low and fast like a duck crossing a pond. It was a great way to simulate real hunting scenarios and build confidence in timing, aim, and gun handling.
This outing wasn’t just about sport — it was about preparation. Pheasant and waterfowl season is just around the corner, and every shot today helps build the muscle memory and discipline needed for ethical, effective hunting.
Big thanks to the range near Three Forks for hosting us and to everyone who made the day a success. The countdown to opening day is on, and we’ll be ready.
Stay safe, shoot straight, and we’ll see you in the field!
